Winter escape @ Sachsen Therme spa

January is a tough month. It’s cold, the days are short and spring seems oh so far away.

Nevermind, let’s spend the day at Sachsen Therme spa 🙂

A short walk from the Paunsdorf Center (P.C.) shopping mall you’ll find this wonderful spa and waterpark complex. There’s a wave pool, heated outdoor pools, a normal indoor pool with diving platforms, kid-friendly areas, several sauna rooms of varying temperatures, a steam room, lots of hot-tubs, and a couple of excellent water slides.

There’s also several places to eat and drink and lots of zones to chill-out, read, or maybe sleep a bit. It’s warm and relaxing; the perfect antidote to a cold grey day in Leipzig.

Make sure you bring your own towel as (surprisingly) there isn’t a towel service. If you forget you’ll have to buy a towel in the shop. The cheapest was EUR12. Basic entry does not include the adult-only sauna area. Check out the price list. We paid EUR20 each for a full day including sauna. The sauna area is clothing optional. There’s also a massage service and beauty spa next to the main reception area.

We spent most of the day here recently on a wet and cold Monday. It was very relaxing and can highly recommend, we’ll certainly be going back again!

Opening hours are approximately 10:00 to 23:00 every day. Take tram 3 or 7, or the 90 Bus. Lots of parking outside main entrance, or you can use the giant car park at the nearby Paunsdorf shopping mall (ok maybe do some shopping there first).
